Recent Projects

This is one of the commercial projects that we have completed, working with an architect (that we had not previously worked with before) and a committee of local volunteers who had a clear vision for the hall as somewhere for locals to meet and participate in all sorts of activities every day.

The hall dating back to 1800s has been a school and chapel, until the 1960s when the community clubbed together to buy it as a village hall. Since then it has had a lot of work done and our renovation started in 2016 with the help of a National Lottery Grant that the committee was able to obtain.

The aim was to keep the character but modernising it with a new commercial kitchen, disabled toilets, meeting room and ramp to make the building more accessible for all users. The outside was all plastered with Lime, which was a challenge given that temperature and air humidity had to be perfect – which was tricky on the coast. The roof was replaced and elements of a flat roof as well.

It was important as well with this project that everything was on time relating to funding and that all specifications met their needs and as it was a community project, budget was very important. We were lucky that we worked well with dedicated volunteers who worked very hard to obtain this for their community.
